You need to make a site demo and that too fast then this is the thing for you, Demofuse. Upon signup you get a small piece of javascript that has to be included in each of pages that show in the demo and from then on you can start creating your demo. A small flash based editor lets you create the demo slideshow style , you can add navigation, highlights, animated arrows and it even comes with customizable templates and colors. Its a great product and really fast - my own demo took me less than 10 to create.
Another great product that you can use is AmberJack. This small 4kb open source javascript library can be included in almost every page and is extremely easy to use. This could be a great alternative if you don’t want to depend on a third party site for a tour. You can do things yourself; not in 10 ofcourse
Yes, its one of the most common problems faced by everyday techies. You have a presentation that you need to share and you don’t know where and how to do so. Microsofts PPS format does solve some of those issues but you still need your own webserver. In come these handy tools. Let me remind you these tools can also be used to edit, publish or embed your slideshows- you can even create new slideshows online.
was my first pick cause of its complete office suite which the other products dont offer. SO not onyl can you make slideshows but you can also use their word processor, spreadsheet and calenderign facilities. Zoho lets you import slideshows from ppt and other formats and even lets you edit them after you have imported. Here is the link to my presentation. You can also embed the presentation in your blog or site using an iframe script.
I had to find a presentation that I had made, so I chose a presentation I had used in under graduate course. It has of course been made through MS Powerpoint and then imported to zohoshow, but zoho is capable of making better presentation.
was ofcourse my second. This has got to be one of the most widely used services to publish presentations online. Slideshare has built a community around these products and is also more social with youtube like interface. Its a great way to share your presentations. You can import the regular ppt, pps, open office odp and even pdf’s. If you are a wordpress user like me you have a special embed code for the same.
provides most of the features that slideshare provides and the regular import, embed etc. I have to mention though that you cannot edit presentations. Its only meant for imports and publishes. But there are security levels and 200mb of free space.
I couldn’t leave out thumbstacks, my old favorite. I had used this product for its sheer brilliance. The interface is still pretty raw and the product itself is buggy, thanks to its alpha tag , but the product is great for its purpose. The collaborativ remote presentation manager is the best feature. You sit and control a remote slideshow, you can beat such a feature. People familiar with MS liveMeeting will know what I am talking about.
I was trying my hand at the flickr apis and was lucky enough to make Jflickr work to my advantage. I was able to get the photos and wanted a simple way to elegantly display photos and also allow for a slideshow. Basically, a really simple slideshow tool which could also present photos in a neat way. I found LightBox.
Built on top of script.aculo.us and prototype, LightBox by Lokesh Dhakar is a cinch to use. With lightbox you get a really easy to use photo presentation tool plus a slideshow like interface. Check out this example.
So, you are developing that next big site using all the big words like Ajax and comet. But you aint a big UI specialist and you like how other sites make Ajax based request replies look so cool with their images and stuff. Well you can do the same thing too with Ajax Loadign Gif Generator.
Picture this : You have your own website and want to have a photos section for the same, but you already have your pics on flickr that you would like people to see. You don’t want to take people to flickr to see your photos, instead you need a quick way of putting your photos on your site.
can do that and in under 10 minutes and provide you a variety of interfaces to your photos from flash to html.
2. Give your userid, email id or even some tags for public photos and select how many photos you want to be shown
3. Select one of the existing templates that wish the photos to appear in, my favorite being one of the flash frames. Click next.
4. Here you get a public link for your photos presentation, but if you wish to use the photos on your own site, click on “Use this Presentation on your own site“
5. Next screen will give you some code, that you copy paste onto your myphotos.html or your homepage itself and then upload the changed file to your site.
Voila you have your own photo show with jazzy features with absolutely no effort.
I love technology and what it has to offer. I am a firm believer in the 10 minute theory of mine - ” No code should take more than 10 minutes”, which I prove time and again. Its not just code, its services that you can use, web services you can call, websites that are a must use and many other aspects of technology that take under 10 minutes to code, configure, use and enjoy.
in10 is all about 10 minutes of your life and how you can technologically benefit out of those 10 precious minutes.
